Christopher Jonathan Hulton shares his stories about a family of Nattrolls he met just after the Civil War. They have been living within the Thousand Acre Woods ever since they escaped slavery from the 17th-century Swedish colony in the NJ Pine Belt.
In the third collection of tales, the Nattroll gang hunts a werewolf. Next, the Jul Cat docks in Clam Town. After eating the crew, she eats everyone and everything she meets. Gramps then searches for Karl after he lost him coming home from the tavern. The tavern involved in the last battle of the Revolutionary War. Followed by the Jersey Devil robbing Gramps' bag of herbs that Bjorn is carrying. Hulton then turns into an eagle, a greyhound, and an otter to chase him down. Angrboða and Karl go on a journey south of Kansas through poetry and song. In the next tale, Hulton and Bjorn go through moon lore, and then Bjorn teaches Hulton that Manni looks after everyone. The great trickster gets tricked when Angrboða is bedeviled by the Piney Wizard not once but thrice. Gramps and Hulton return Bjorn's shears to the howe for the bergfolk to fix before Bjorn finds out. Helgi plans another coming-out party for her daughter, not expecting much, but in the last story is looking to the Pine Witch for a love potion so her new boyfriend does not run away. All compiled by Christopher Jon Luke Dowgin from his great-great-grandfather's journals.
The tales are a mixture of humorous and ancient teaching stories. They draw inspiration from hilarious Sufisms, Piney folklore, and Scandinavian myths mixed up in a stone soup of short Pooh-esque tales. So jump into Trollheim and visit with Bjorn and his wife Helgi, their 500-year-old teenage daughter Angrboða, Gramps and his buddy Karl, and their pet bear Bosco. Follow their adventures as they meet the famous and infamous of the New Jersey Pine Barrens.

Trolls: A Compendium
Everybody knows about the Celtic Faerie world of elves, dwarfs, pixies, brownies, and the like. What do you know about the magical world of the Vikings and their neighbors in Scandinavia? Their world is the Troll World!
Following the Harry N. Abrams, Inc. tradition of the series that created Brian Froud's and Alan Lee's Faeries and Gnomes by Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet, we present you with what would have been the next book in the series: Trolls: A Compendium. Trolls—do you think you know what they are? Could you be wrong?
Trolls within Scandinavian lore, myth, saga, fantasy, and folktales are actually anything magical within our northern neighbor's culture. Richly illustrated in this volume are the tales of fairies, dwarves, nissen, huldras, gods, Jotuns, draugar, ghosts, werewolves, dragons, and more. Also, this book introduces our readers to the world of Trollheim, populated by Nattrolls that escaped the 17th-century Swedish colony within the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Narrated by Christopher Jonathan Hulton, who lives in the Thousand Acre Woods just after the Civil War, their tales are filled with Native American lore and tales of their neighbor, the Jersey Devil.
